Hey there, Chics!
We at Chic Chat wanted to take the time out to remember the “Queen of Soul”, Aretha Franklin.
The “Queen of Soul,” died Thursday in her home in the city of Detroit after battling pancreatic cancer. Her death was confirmed by her publicist, Gwendolyn Quinn. She was 76.
Her songs are legendary and her voice is irreplaceable. From hits like “Respect,” “Natural Woman,” and “I say a little prayer,” Frankiln became a common household name back in the late 1960’s. Aretha Franklin accomplished so much throughout her career. She sold over 75 million records, performed for three presidents inagurations, and was the first woman EVER to be inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Although her initial recording career only lasted about five years, she still recorded music in the late 1980’s and 90’s and managed to maintain her titile as the “Queen of Soul.”
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Aretha Franklin. We are so very greatful to have witnessed such a beautiful and powerful voice in our lifetime!
