Hey there Chics! Are you looking for a place to vacation but don’t want to travel too far away from the city? We often think that vacations must involve traveling far away from home, but sometimes vacationing in your own “backyard” can be more fun and exciting than packing your bags and hopping on a flight. If you think about it, it’s actually more cost-efficient and convenient. You won’t have to worry about finding a pet-sitter for your pet who needs special care and attention. You also won’t be too concerned about the possibility of leaving things behind at your hotel, because it won’t be in a completely different state or country! We call this new trend “staycationing!”
It’s the new wave! Many women have been trying out this new way of vacationing and it’s starting to become the best next thing. Let’s face it, living in New York City can sometimes feel like it’s already a vacation of it’s own. That’s why we’ve came up with a list for our fellow New Yorkers to check out for vacationing this summer, but of course not too far away from the city!
- The Gansvort Meatpacking Hotel
Ladies, if you’re “staycationing” with your bae or if it’s just you and your girlfriends, this hotel has a great rooftop open to it’s guest from 7AM until 9PM. This luxury hotel is very popular in the meatpacking district located on 9th ave. Although it’s rooms are a bit on the pricier side (currently starting from $266 per night) relaxing in it’s sleek and modern ambience is well worth a few nights stay!
2. Beach Homes
Finding a beach home not too far from where you reside in the city isn’t the easiest thing to do in New York. Sites like HomeAway, Airbnb, and VRBO offer quite a few homes and apartments that are near NYC’s best beaches, but are not located directly on the beaches. If you’re looking for a beach home that provides direct access to a beach, try searching for homes in New Jersey. Who said you had to stay in a hotel where you’re typically limited to just the room and your bed?! Even Long Island offers a few places that’ll leave you right where you want to be; right on the shore and ready to explore!
3. Staying Home
The whole point of “staycationing” is to stay right at home right? If you’re looking to save money but feel as though you were “away” from home, visiting the piers of the city might be your next best option. There are so many activities to do on the piers that include bowling, exercising, and rock climbing! Even visiting the places that tourists usually visit isn’t a bland idea either. Heading to the Bronx Zoo, checking out a new art museum, or a spa can eliminate that feeling of being home while you’re on vacation.
Even if you don’t live in a huge city like New York, don’t be afraid to try out these ideas for “staycationing” in your own town ladies! You won’t regret it! Until next time Chics!
